Meaning: To accept the challenge with confidence.
Example: You want to have a race? Bring it on! I can beat you
In this example there are two friends, one is offering a challenge to other. Do you want to have a race with me. If yes, accept the challenge and I can beat you. So in above example Bring it on means accept the challenge.
2. Call Off
Meaning: to cancel something.
Example: The cricket match was called off because of heavy rain.
In above example cricket match has been cancel because of rain and match was draw.
3. Cut in
Meaning: To interrupt someone.Example: I was about to ask my friend to play video games but his friend cut in and I lost a chance.
Above example is conveying a message that one friend is asking about his opinion to play video games but on the spot another one (3rd one) has been arrived and start talking with him. Reluctantly the first friend lost a chance to take his opinion about playing video games. Simply interruption in ongoing discussion without permission.
4. Hold Back
Meaning: To stop yourself from doing or saying something
Example: I am speaking English fluently whenever this act comes in front of public so I feel shy and
hold back.
This example means a person can speak English fluently without hesitation but when he come in front of public so he is totally deprive to speak a single word.
Hence, phrasal verb is the accumulation of verb, phrase and preposition along with different meaning of verb, in contrast to original meaning of verb without phrase.
